Background: Metalsa is the quality and productivity leading company in the manufacturing of trucks, SUVs and cars’ structural parts. It mainly serves the North American automotive market, Metalsa has facilities and commercial in Mexico, located in Apodaca and San Luis Potosi: a facility in Roanoke, Virginia and commercial offices in Detroit, Michigan.
Mission: "To help in the development and business generation for the automotive industry, providing high quality
differentiated products and services, at competitive prices and encouraging staff’s integral  development”.

Problem: The financial information was stored in one operational structure, however, the platforms for accessing and using such information where variable, depending on the nature of the information to be analyzed.

To get valuable information for the decision making process, required a lot of work, including the generation of several reports, which required the participation of the people in charge of each process. To get updated information, we relied heavily on the people in charge of report generation. The company had a high volume of information stored in its transactional databases, and it was very difficult to analyze since we didn’t have a special tool to do it.

Solutions:  We had an Executive Information System developed, which provides online financial information, including analysis variables and the following processes’ measurements: Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Financial Indicators.

With the implementation of this solution, it was possible to integrate all financial information in only one applications, enabling users to make faster and accurate decisions.

Benefits: The implementation of the SIE in Metalsa resulted in the following benefits:

  • Integration of information of the different Oracle’s financial modules into one application.
  • Information transparency.
  • Online information available for different organizational levels.
  • Easier to monitor daily indicators.
  • Less time needed for report generation.
  • Easier for the Directors to analyze organization’s information.
  • Timely decision making.
  • Web-access to information from anywhere.
  • Easier for the user to generate new reports.
  • Automation of the information updating processes.
  • Solution assimilation of certain users, enabling them to design and create their own executive scenarios.
