Investment in Business Intelligence (BI) increases IT Return on Investment

It is imperative to assure the usage of BI solutions and to leverage on previous IT investments to maximize benefits.
Investing in Information Management (IM) solutions, can release potential benefits that have not been received from other IT investments, increasing ROI in organizations.

“Several studies show that companies are not receiving the expected benefits from their investment in IT. Particularly, Business Intelligence and Information Management solutions have not generated the expected results. According to a study presented in 2008 by the AIIM (Association for Information and Image Management), 42% of the managers use wrong information at least once a week”.

“The main problem is that organizations do not design their solutions with their usage in mind. They focus only on technology and when the end user receives the solution, it can’t be used for decision making.

“Our recommendation is to develop these projects with the managers in mind, considering that they shall use the solution to make relevant decisions. Therefore we suggest:

  1. Design solutions that meet business requirements.
  2. Assure data quality and availability.
  3. Assure the proper performance of the solution.
  4. Deliver the right tools to the right user.
  5. Train the users in the usage and analysis of information.
  6. Manage continuous improvement.

From Intellego's viewpoint, processes management, technology and the required methodology to assure that organizations answer business questions and make decisions using relevant, comprehensive, sound and timely information, is critical for the organizations to efficiently address the demanding environment in today’s world.

“Even the best IT infrastructure does not guarantee the outcome. To achieve good results, it is necessary to develop an appropriate Information Management strategy.
