2010 IDC Trends
We are expecting a significant growth in Latin-America of integrated information solutions that lead to business intelligence, particularly in Mexico, 6% and 5% according to a study conducted by the firm.
Therefore, those solutions involved in the information management cycle are becoming relevant for 2010. Starting with those who capture information, such as document management solutions, to those who collect and exploit information, such as archiving and data warehouse solutions and business intelligence systems, predictive and search analysis, among others. It is very important for information management to be aligned to an ILM (Information Lifecycle Management) solution, to be able to define proper data access and management during its stay in the company.
Regarding Mexico, virtually all solutions mentioned fit in 2010, however for the purpose of better exploiting the same information, we expect companies to continue with their integration activities, driven by applications’ and infrastructure consolidation solutions, going through resource maximization, where the virtualization and storage stand out, until the integration of the applications and databases through connectors and services that enable systems’ interoperability.
Today, the markets are more dynamic, and the competition level higher. Thus, the companies that streamlined their processes making proper and timely decisions are the ones that will be able to grow their markets. This is probably the main reason why integrated management solutions and decision making solutions, positioned themselves among the five IT priorities for the last 2 year, and they shall remain like this during 2010.
Information management solutions are aimed to any kind of industry that wants to better exploit the data residing in the company. However, certain industries characterized by their intensive use of information, are speedily adopting these solutions. Among this industries is the financial sector, (banking and insurance companies), telecommunications, and those using loyalty programs and whose strategies are based on the knowledge they have of their consumers (airlines and car-rental).
At the end, the key is integration. Many solutions are implemented in isolation; however, the trend is for these applications to be installed under an ILM framework, where different areas will have governance over the information.
