Information Management. One of the main technological trends for 2010.
Though it is clear that financial markets worldwide are showing several tangible signs of recuperation and thus economic key indicators are stabilizing, the business and public administration environments will experience changes that will affect not only our strategy but our organization’s daily operations.
In this context, one of the main lessons we learned from this crisis, is that the top management has to be well and timely informed to make proper decisions, but mainly when the economy and market's situation changes unexpectedly. The aforementioned allows us to assert that some of the main global technological trends to take into account for this starting year, will be focused on information management, to achieve better analysis skills and thus, improve the decision making processes. Solutions based on information management enable the communication among different enterprise applications and departments, enabling knowledge unification, becoming the building blocks for a strategy able to predict the future.
Therefore, business intelligence will become even more important within medium enterprises and public institutions, with the purpose of leveraging and transforming data into knowledge. Data and content management solutions are also becoming relevant, mainly in the information security and quality of data fields.
Another kind of solutions that are acquiring relevance within big companies is those related to process management. These solutions optimize business processes and maximize information technologies usage, aligning business processes to transaction systems.
It is worth to talk about the whole picture regarding technological trends to be able to assert that, despite Cloud Computing services are not clear enough in Mexico; during 2010 we will see the capacity of the model to become a feasible computing platform, massive, and affordable.
Besides, the environmental responsibility is a clear trend for this year. On one side, we will see the energy-efficient information technologies: less energy consumption and maximum performance equipment. On the other hand, national and international organizations are reaching worldwide agreements to reduce contaminant emissions. This challenge will lead to important regulations and the adoption of new generation technologies.
Another relevant issue is learning to leverage the advantages of virtualization to set up test environments, mainly in small to medium businesses. Virtualization allows foreseeing the impact of any change within the organization, as well as the improvement of operations.
Likewise, we will see a particular focus on data interoperability and the ability to provide the user with previous experiences, as well as the adoption of efficient and integrated data analysis.
2010 shows a very promising scenario, ideal for recovery. Thus we think that while costs and efficiency issues are still main topics in any organization, companies should focused its power on innovation and competitiveness to capture the opportunities left behind by the recession, based on the proper usage and management of information.
