Better management and better ROI through Content Management

Talking about availability, companies today need fast and easy access to structured data. Customer satisfaction and companies’ enhanced performance rely on these issues.

Every improvement point in organizational practices, is equivalent to .44 points more ROI, however there is no correlation between IT investment and business ROI (Return on Investment).

On the other hand, it is worth to mention that there is correlation between IT Investments and better business management; thus, organizations with higher ROI support their management practices.

Considering these management practices, companies shall focus on the following concepts to get an efficient Enterprise Content Management experience:

  • Governance: Data governance includes people, processes and technology required to create a corporate consistent view of company’s data. Companies adopt data governance as a means to transform chaos into order on their information infrastructures.

  • Monitoring: A business monitoring activity happens when the BI infrastructure is looking for abnormalities within a business process, and then it carries out several actions to correct these abnormalities.

  • Innovation: There are several forms to manage innovation. The first step is to define why an innovation is desired, set clear objectives and define the expected impact. This helps with the definition of the kind of innovation we want to achieve.

  • Collaboration: Enhanced productivity and efficiency are the main benefits when betting for greater collaboration. Company members coordinate themselves and reach a common objective.

  • Human Capital: Empowering human capital, gives a competitive advantage to organizations.

  • T Capacity: Capacity management considers every required resource to deliver IT services, and it enables the company to foresee IT needs in the short, medium, and long term.

Processes Integration

Integration of companies’ business processes with enterprise applications, starting from a high level model. It requires the participation of technological and business elements. From a technological point of view, it means taking the process to an execution engine, communicate it with different technology applications, and locate instances of said process. From the business perspective, it means finding out where and how an application takes part, and maintaining information consistency on both, the process and the applications. It is important to consider the following:
  • Standard data.
  • Data integrity.
  • Fluency among departments.
  • One single face for the customer.

Processes Standardization, such as:
  • One single way to do things.
  • Consistency.
  • Predictability.
  • Efficiency.
We have also found that organizations face a sudden increase in the volume of non-structured information and more and more sophisticated formats in the network. The growing needs for transparency and control cause the creation of document management and security rules. On the other hand, people interaction activities are increasing, and the workforce profile is shifting to information workers.

For Microsoft, the Enterprise Content Management specialization is aimed at partners who design, develop and implement portals to connect users and equipment to information and resources in the different business' processes.

ECM investments will double in the world, in Mexico, ECM will grow more than 24% in the next 3 years. Collaboration is one of the priority applications for 48% of executives in Mexico. Similarly, BPM and the portals became highly important integration tools for organizations.

Enterprise Content Management is progressing and focused on speeding up development and increasing ROI, with a wide range of capacity and strength in document management, business process administration, backups, collaboration, Web content management, and digital applications management.
